Last winter in Crete I made a work that I had conceived almost twenty years ago. Interesting to see how the theme 'The end of the Enlightenment' has always continued to fascinate me. It turns out to be a red line in my work. When this concept arose, I now realize, I had not yet been introduced to Buddhism or spirituality at all. Yet I also saw or felt from 'within' in our Western world of goal-orientedness and control, that something was not right. I suspect I must have been familiar with Plato's allegory of the cave.
